As an African American youth growing up on Tobacco Road, you either kept busy or got in trouble. Looking back, Big Steve appreciates the 177-acre farm he grew up on. As an only child his mother and grandmother played a huge part in his “keeping busy”. Part of the busyness included learning to cook. Big Steve learned from his grandmother recipes and techniques that allow all of us the benefit of experiencing what real tradition truly tastes like. With each bite, you can be a part of a rich legacy that transcends time itself.
